After all, Vince McMahon, chairman and CEO of WWE, ended up wrestling at Wrestlemania 38.
In tonight’s Wrestlemania Sunday event, Pat McAfee beat Austin Theory, while McMahon viewed from the ringside. Vince came out of the ring before the match, giving McAfee a brief introduction and naming him a future WWE Universal Champion. Theory was welcomed by The White Stripes’ Seven Nation Army and Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders.
After the match, Vince visited Theory at ringside and had a few words with McAfee when McDown’s commentator invited him to the ring. Vince removed his jacket and shirt to make a big splash in the crowd. He revealed a tank top, and was in a very jacked physical state. McMahon entered McAfee’s ring, and McMahon fought back. Theory was able to remove McAfee, and Vince laughed.
Vince threw McAfee into the turnbuckles and rang the bell. Vince ordered McAfee to the turnbuckles, and then beat McAfee around the ring for several more minutes. As Vince controlled the match which felt more like Street Fight than a brawl, fans chanted “you still have it!” Theory intervened once more and finally gave Vince a football. Vince punted McAfee the football and won the pin.
Theory and Vince stood together after the match as “No Chance” was played. Vince encouraged Theory to take photos for the crowd, but AT&T Stadium was not able to hold it. When the glass broke, Steve Austin, a WWE Hall of Famer, emerged. After a brief exchange, Vince and Austin spoke briefly. Vince tried to sell Austin on his future Superstar status. Theory attacked, but Vince defeated him and hit a Stone Cold Stunner that sent him out of the ring. Austin had a beer toast and was dropped by Vince with a Stone Cold Stunner. Vince fell a few times against the ropes, but Austin caught him and completed the Stunner.
Austin continued his beer party, and then invited McAfee to the ring for some beers. McAfee was also stunned. Austin made his final exit while the cheering crowd supported him.
