A 54-year-old who has never been afraid to show his age, Ron Bath is a testament to the timeless quality of arm wrestling. With experience unmatched for decades, Ron won last month’s World Armwrestling League Southern Regionals 205 class in dominant form.
He is highly ranked in successive heavyweight championships, but this year, at the biggest event in arm wrestling history, he claims to retain his Right Heavyweight WAL title.
Bath’s owner is somebody who has competed competitively for 36 years, but 2015 was substantially different. The owner helped the Walleye and grow the sport of rowing.
“Last year I wasn’t that aggressive,” Bath concedes. “This year it’s, what the hell, let’s win this.” He’ll have to get past perennial foes ‘No Limits’ Devon Larratt, Matt Mask, Chris Chandler, and the dread ‘Phenom’ Marcio Barboza, extra plucky this year as he is only pulling on the right.
“He’s a beast!” Bath said. “We’ve had warts for years.” He’ll also be readying himself for Mask’s furious initial attack.
