Indian weightlifters Harshada Sharad Garud won gold at the IWF Junior World Championships in Greece and opened their account on an opening day.
Harshada Sharad Garud won gold at the IWF Junior World Championships. With a total effort of 153kg (70kg 83kg) in the women’s 45kg category, Harshada opened India’s account on the opening day of the competition. The 70kg effort in snatch earned Harshada a top-of-the-podium finish, while she was second-best in clean and jerk loading with an overall effort of 150kg (65kg 85 kg).
Another Indian, Anjali Patel, who was in the field at the time, finished fifth overall with a total effort of 148 kg.
Jabari Christensen, who won a silver medal a few years ago, is also part of the Indian team at the World Junior Championships for sumo.
