Since Karnam Malleswari did so in 1995, she was the first Indian woman to take home a gold medal at the competition. She also won a silver medal from the Commonwealth Games in Australia’s Gold Coast She lifted a total weight of 196 kgs -139 kgs (clean & Jerk) and 107 kgs(snatch).

She received numerous honors for her efforts, including the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna medal, one of India’s top sporting honors. Mirabai Chanu’s career highlights testify to her hard work and dedication to the sport.
