Arnold Schwarzenegger

Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger was born on July 30, 1947. Arnold Schwarzenegger is an Austrian-American actor, film producer, businessman, politician, and former bodybuilder who served as the 38th governor of California between 2003 and 2011. As of 2022, he is the most recent Republican governor of California. Schwarzenegger has been named one of the 100 most influential people by Time magazine in 2004 and 2007.

Schwarzenegger began lifting weights when he was 15 years old and went on to win the Mr. Universe title at age 20; this allowed him to win the Mr. Olympia contest seven times. He remains a prominent figure in bodybuilding, as he wrote many books and articles on it. The Arnold Sports Festival is considered the second-most important bodybuilding event after Mr. Olympia, and it is named after Arnold Schwarzenegger for his contributions to the sport. In Pumping Iron (1977), Schwarzenegger appeared in a documentary about bodybuilding that would later help launch his career as an actor, with the sword and sorcery epic Conan the Barbarian, ranking as one of his first box office hits—and being followed by a sequel in 1984.
