WWE Extreme Rules invokes violence as it approaches on Saturday, Oct. 8th in Philadelphia. It also touches a nostalgic memory of the beloved and now defunct ECW.
Extreme Rules is an annual WWE event that focuses on matches with weapons and no security. The event usually features at least one “Extreme Rules” match, which allows for no boundaries or safety precautions. The term derives from Paul Heyman’s cult classic company in which all matches were contested under these terms.
Three matches have already been booked with the stipulation that both women’s titles will be on the line. Liv Morgan from SmackDown will defend her title against Ronda Rousey in an Extreme Rules match while Raw women’s champion Bianca Belair will battle Bayley in a ladder match.
Check out the list of confirmed and predicted matches for this year’s Extreme Rules event. I’ll update the post weekly with new information as we get it.

Updated WWE Extreme Rules 2022 Match Card
1.Good Old-Fashioned Donnybrook: Brutes vs. Imperium
The battle between the Brawling Brutes and Imperium will take place on Saturday in a Good Old-Fashioned Donnybrook.
The match type will be the second time this year that fans have seen it, with the last example being Sheamus vs. Drew McIntyre at SmackDown just before SummerSlam.
Watching this match was like watching a cartoon. It was full of suspense and action, as well as some weapons. The same should be expected from this match. It will serve as the continuation of Sheamus versus Gunther’s feud.
Triple H and the creative team can see that Gunther is dominant with a bright future in the WWE. They want to create a force who can be built into a genuine world title contender, as well as be the obstacle for a top babyface.
With the match taking place, it’ll protect him from getting hurt. In the match, The Brawling Brutes will most likely beat them since they are more experienced at this point in time.
Prediction: The Brawling Brutes
2.’I Quit’ Match: Edge vs. Finn Bálor
Edge and Bálor have never faced one another in a singles match, making Saturday’s matchup between the two a dream matchup.
Edge and Rey Mysterio are going to battle the man who ousted Edge. They want to get revenge for running him out of the Judgment Day Fight Organization.
His son suddenly accepts an invitation to join The Judgment Day, Mysterio’s longtime friend Rey may have a disadvantage with his heels, even if he does accept Rhea Ripley as a tag team partner.
One example of this process in action is when AJ Styles found himself the object of Bálor’s recruitment. Recent interactions could mean that he will play a role in the match.
This is an interesting match in that if this report is true, The Prince needs to win. Otherwise, he’ll be with The Judgment Day forever. He’s been on the loosing end too many times and needs a defining victory to really set him up as a heel leader in the group.
I was told by sources that Finn Balor’s future is very promising in WWE. I don’t know what he’ll be doing but he is a person of interest of the new leadership group. Finn Balor has a big role in the foreseeable future of WWE.
This weekend, we may expect to see all sorts of out-of-the-box solutions. We are hopeful that the Wells Fargo Center will be filled with an eye for creativity.
Prediction: Edge
3.Strap Match: Drew McIntyre vs. Karrion Kross
The new match to see is the a strap match between Drew McIntyre and Karrion Cross.
When Kross jumped the Scot on his return to WWE, they were on a collision course.
The heel has been telling the story of how McIntyre was a hand-picked individual to be successful in WWE, and instead they chose someone else.
Peter Parker, aka the Herald of Doom, proved he is good at what he does. The Herald of Doom is back to prove that the company should have chosen him as their future when they had a chance.
The escalation of competition has been highlighted in recent weeks with more physicality and Scarlett’s interference on behalf of Kross.
The best possible outcome for both parties (Kross and the publisher) is that Kross wins.
Kross has a second chance to make a good first impression following his booking by Vince McMahon. He is a damaged product, so he and the creative team need to capitalize on the opportunity.
All that McIntyre needs to do is beat Miz in order for him to reaffirm he’s the top babyface on SmackDown, which is something we already know.
This is also the case on this card, as an exception in this match protects the one who lost. For example, if you lose the fight, then you can go off and battle somewhere else to have a new match again.
Prediction: Kross wins
4.Fight Pit Match: Matt Riddle vs. Seth Rollins
This has rejuvenated the feud between Matt Riddle and Seth Rollins, now with Cormier officiating. This will be sure to draw out the intensity.
Riddle, who is a renowned martial artist, was also a ranked heavyweight contender in Bellator MMA and has previously wrestled in NXT. A return of the Fight Pit to NXT reflects his history as a mixed-martial arts fighter.
Rollins is going to lose the match with Cormier because the audience will be sympathetic to Cormier and his character.
The Visionary has not been victorious in many PPV fights, but it would be nice to see if he can earn his stripes. If he loses, it may lead to a high profile program with Cormier or something completely new.
Prediction: Riddle wins
5.Ladder Match for Raw Women’s Championship: Bianca Belair vs. Bayley
In order to ensure that the up-coming match has some kind of gimmick, a ladder match stipulation was added.
It is a historic first for the WWE women’s division to have a one-on-one showdown in this match type. However, these contests typically take a toll on the participant; sometimes proving more problematic than effective.
Bayley, with all the matches she has helped revolutionize and introduced to the company, is in the perfect spot. As leader of Damage CTRL, a win would firmly put her faction as the most dominant force on the roster, especially after Bayley defeated Sasha Banks for the Raw Women’s Championship at SummerSlam.
Belair losing the title and resuming the role as the “babyface” chasing after it isn’t a bad thing at all. In fact, from August 2021 through March 2022 she proved that she has enough foresight to do this effectively.
The heel wins here, it propels the story forward, and if Bayley loses, the chance of the heels holding all of the gold dissipates.
Prediction: Bayley wins the title
6.Extreme Rules Match for SmackDown Women’s Title: Liv Morgan vs. Ronda Rousey
Liv Morgan and Ronda Rousey may head-line next Saturday’s PPV
“This is the marquee match on WWE.com.” The audience will likely have strong reactions to Ronda Rousey, who is from Philidelphia and faces Becky Lynch, the SmackDown women’s champion.
Morgan has been determined to prove she can go to the extreme. She did so by driving Lacey Evans through a table one week, then bringing a baseball bat to her fight with Rousey on last week’s SmackDown.
Morgan is expected to put up a tough fight against Rousey. She will surprise the audience by holding on long enough in the match to impress them.
The question is whether this will end straight-up or if WWE Creative has a surprise in store.
Does Charlotte Flair return for the first time since WrestleMania Backlash in May and look to avenge her loss to Rousey at that event? Maybe Shayna Baszler makes her presence felt and kicks off a run with her fellow former UFC fighter.
We have another chance to see Morgan beat Rousey, even if it’s in controversial fashion.
Prediction: Morgan retains
