Goldberg was reportedly done with WWE, but this might not come to be.
Goldberg challenged Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship, originally scheduled to happen at WrestleMania 36. The match was bumped up when the COVID-19 pandemic took place, but Reigns was vacationing elsewhere.
Goldberg was dismantled in Saudi Arabia, to continue Reigns’ championship run.
At the time, it was rumoured that Goldberg’s last match for WWE would be his return bout in Saudi Arabia. It led many to believe that he was done with the company and was a free agent at the moment.
With his contract with WWE still in effect, it appears that Mick Foley is no longer playing any matches. In a new interview with the New York Post, Mick Foley revealed that even though he completed fulfilling his commitments with WWE, he was still under contract.
How to stay in shape with the talents you have
“I’m still waiting for that one [call] to happen one of these days,” Goldberg said. “But I suppose you never retire in thewrestling world until you’re dead, so who knows.”
It has also been suggested that the former World Champion would require surgery to remedy a shoulder issue, which looks like this is not happening. Goldberg explained that his shoulder had been “absolutely destroyed” over the last four or five years, although he had kept the severity of the problem hidden.
“I have worked my ass off day, after day, after day to get to a point where I feel almost normal again,” he said. “I just kind of needed that break. I needed the mental focus of understanding that surgery wasn’t an option at the time and I needed to put my ass to the grindstone.”
