WWE Hell in a Cell is a professional-level wrestling show held annually by WWE, the professional wrestling organization based in Connecticut. It’s broadcast live and is available exclusively through pay-per-view (PPV). In addition, it’s also available streaming online services on Peacock and the WWE Network. It was first held on the night of 2009. The Hell in a Cell condition plays every main event match on the card. There is two or three other Hell in a Cell events that could be held within the sub card.
About the show
In the early part of 2009, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) conducted a website poll. Which allowed fans to vote on the title for this year’s Pay-per-view for October (PPV) that would be a continuation of the show’s popular Hell in a Cell match. Hell in a Cell was picked in preference to No Escape, Locked Up, and Rage in a Cage. The debut Hell in a Cell PPV took place on October 4, 2009, taking over WWE’s monthly PPV in October, No Mercy. Although initially only accessible via PPV. The event also became accessible on WWE’s streaming service. The WWE Network, starting with the 2014 event. After that, Peacock 2021, following the American edition of the WWE Network, was merged with Peacock in March of the year.
The concept of the show
The idea behind the show stems from WWE’s popular Hell in a Cell match that sees competitors fight inside a 20-foot high, roofed structure surrounded by the ring and the ringside area. The main event match on the card is held per the Hell in a Cell clause. Some or two other Hell in a Cell events might be held within the sub card. A variety of variations on The Hell in a Cell stipulation are being played out in various events, including “firsts.” For example, the event in 2011 featured one of the first triple-threatening matches contested within the Hell in a Cell structure. The 2018 event also saw a re-design for The Hell in a Cell structure. Which was decorated in crimson-red and then became smaller, and the wires were less flexible, making the structure more durable but lighter.
