In this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer stated that Imperium’s theme was altered was that the idea is to break them into smaller pieces.
This week, it was reported that they might be making the move to the main team. Dave Meltzer stated in the Observer that the plan was to allow Gunther as well as Marcel Barthel to move up but they will not be going together and are likely to be with different brands. Fabian Aichner will probably stay in NXT.
Gunther was defeated by NXT champion Bron Breakker last week. Insisting on the match with no build seemed something that was not right, especially considering that Gunther is portrayed as a top-tier wrestler since he joined NXT UK a few years in the past.
Breakker’s loss appeared to be the conclusion of his time as a WWE brand. WWE generally has its wrestlers lose in the process of leaving in the hope that they will have a new start in the WWE main lineup.
There’s no confirmation at this time as to when Gunther and Barthel may appear for Raw or SmackDown.
