Wes Lee’s strong run as North American Champion ended on “WWE NXT” on July 18 when Dominik Mysterio took the title from him. Because of this, the member of Judgment Day won his first singles gold in WWE. Some fans are sad that Lee’s is coming to an end, but Tommy Dreamer was happy with the choice.
The ECW star said on Busted Open Radio that Mysterio’s win was really stunning and that it had an effect on the crowd. Dreamer said that Lee’s time as king was great and that he made the title more important, which is why people were shocked when he lost. Still, he loved how amazing it was that Mysterio won.
“I too enjoyed the gasp when it [the loss] happened. I thought people were thinking he would kick out… This was a shock. They showed that woman’s face and she was like, ‘No.’ There was people with their hands on their heads like, ‘I can’t believe I’m seeing this.'”
Dreamer understood how stunning Lee’s loss was, but he also thinks it makes business sense to give the title to Mysterio, who is a main team Superstar.

“I think it was a good choice for him to be the winner, because it will bring even more attention to a great brand. This brand is called NXT.’
Bully Ray, who works with Dreamer, also liked that Mysterio won. He said that people will pay to see Mysterio lose the title, whether it’s in a repeat with Lee or against someone else. Lee was supposed to defend his title against Mustafa Ali at NXT: The Great American Bash, but it looks like those plans have been canceled. But Ali will definitely face off against Mysterio at some time.
