Cody Rhodes made a triumphant return to WWE this year when he defeated Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 38 and then fought through the injury ahead of Hell in a Cell. The former AEW star endured the tear in his pectoral muscle and even appeared on “RAW” the next night before going under to get surgery.
After that event, it wasn’t clear when Rhodes would return. Predictions ranged from him returning in the 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble match or up to nine months after his last appearance. Though the return date was never seemingly confirmed, many speculated he’d make a surprise return around WrestleMania 39 in Toronto, Ontario.
Is Cody Rhodes coming back?
On Thursday, Brandi Rhodes the former AEW EVP’s wife, announced that Cody has undergone successful surgery to repair his torn muscle and is recovering well. On Friday, WWE sent out a statement revealing that he won’t be returning to the ring until 2023.
Why did Cody leave Rhodes?
Rhodes announced that he left AEW due to frustration with being a barrier set up in the promotion.
