Cena says he’s not yet retired and that his next fight is just around the corner.
“I’m not done with wrestling, so I can’t pick a favorite yet,” Cena said wistfully. He has not wrestled since teaming with Rey Mysterio in October of last year and his son Dominik in a tag match against The Bloodline (Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso, & Roman Reign) at Madison Square Garden. They won the night’s non-televised main event by disqualification.
Cena is not willing to give up on his career just yet, but he has come to terms with the fact that a young man will have a tough time reaching 17 title runs. He believes his best run at the top of his career is years behind him and admits being a 16-time champion does not seem likely for him in the future.
“I’m not done in the ring,” Cena concluded, “but I’m not certain that that’s in the cards.”
Why did Cena leave the WWE?
Cena has acted in movies such as Bumblebee, Trainwreck, and F9: The Fast Saga. Cena quit wrestling to focus on major Hollywood projects and the money involved in these films prevent him from taking the risk of returning to wrestling.
