WWE Superstar reveals his future and how it’s going to be huge.
On Wednesday, Rich’s return to WWE at WrestleMania 38 won the ESPY for “WWE Moment of the Year”. He was going against three other top contenders in The Undertaker getting inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame, Stone Cold Steve Austin shocking Vince McMahon, and Austin Theory, while also competing against Pat McAfee at WrestleMania 38.
Rhodes was interviewed on ESPN.com after winning a WWE ESPY Award and revealed that he will be returning to the WWE ring for another “WWE Moment of the Year.”
“I was nominated to celebrate a moment when I beat SmackDown on WWE Night of Champions, so to be honored by coinciding with Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Undertaker and John Cena is an honor in itself,” said Rob Van Dam.
“I think the fact that I was voted ESPY WWE Moment of the Year, a huge honor and I take that very seriously in terms of what this moment sets me up for moving forward. It’s a little bit of being able to have a clean slate after some of the things that happened last year. It’s funny to even be thinking about it when sometimes, I hear about certain old ideas but I kind of just go ‘No, this isn’t going to come back anymore. No more getting in your own way because you messed up or tried times before or whatever it is. That moment is now what allows you to move into something else and see how far you can make those steps. And so if there’s any moment to get back here with the ESPY WWE Moment of the Year award again, it’s now. So we have 2023 on our minds as much as anyone else does too.”
The former WWE Intercontinental Champion is currently out of action due to a torn right pectoral muscle. While injured, Rhodes still faced Seth Rollins at WWE Hell In the Cell. Four days after the pay-pay-per-view, on June 9, he underwent successful surgery for the injury. According to the latest updates from WWE, Rhodes will be out of action for a total of nine months.
