The June 28 episode of WWE NXT 2.0 promised to set the stage for NXT Great American Bash. The only match already announced for the July 5 show was Bron Breaker vs. Cameron Grimes, but plenty of others were expected.
Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez want to take down Mandy Rose’s Toxic Attraction, but for this mission, they need to beat Katana Chance and Kayden Carter.
Indi Hartwell would face Kiana James, while Xyon Quinn would face Sanga. In previous weeks, Jiro Ikemen had seen Gio Vinci’s influence with his style and new team, so he wanted to prove that power.
Tony D’Angelo and Santos Escobar continue to fight after The Emperor cost The Don the opportunity to defeat Carmelo Hayes and win the NXT North American Championship.
NXT 2.0 would dive into the summer, highlighting the rising stars of wrestling.
No. 1 Contender , Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez vs. Katana Chance and Kayden Carter
Katana Chance and Kayden Carter seemed to have control of the action, but Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez refused to lose out.
At just the right time, Jade saved Perez from an elevated 450 splash setting up for his team to win.
This opener had four talented and charismatic women who were right on the edge, delivering unpredictably wild action. Chance and Carter especially continue to innovate in the ring.
The result was supposed to be predictable but wasn’t satisfying. Chance and Carter remain the only tag team with any sort of established identity, but can’t pick up a win against makeshift teams.
Next week, jade and Perez have a good chance of winning the women’s tag titles.
Result: Jade and Perez win by pinfall to earn a shot at the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships at NXT Great American Bash.
Giovanni Vinci vs Ikemen Jiro
In a decisive match, Giovanni Vinci defeated Ikemen Jiro with an elevated powerbomb.
Given its simplicity, this could be seen as a reminder of the athlete’s talent.
Though he does not use the gimmick well, that does not mean The Italian Superstar is a bad wrestler. In fact, his in-ring efforts would likely see him stay on the roster for a long time to come.
Result: Vinci def. Jiro by pinfall
Pretty Deadly Challenge the New NXT UK Tag Team Champions
Brooks Jensen and Josh Briggs left the official NXT UK Championship celebration with two newly-won belts in hand. However, Pretty Deadly started taunting them, leading to a brawl that concluded with the new champs standing tall.
As much as you might want to believe it with the crowded NXT UK brand, the new champions are not British. In fact, there are a number of talented homegrown talents that deserve the title.
Despite the fact that they may have been defeated by Elton Prince and Kit Wilson at this pay-per-view, it will be interesting to see if they continue to stay as important figures in NXT as entertainers and athletes.
Indi Hartwell vs Kiana James
Kiana James took control over Indi Hartwell, who was attempting a pin. Unfortunately for her, she allowed James to steal momentum and get on the other side of the ropes for a three count.
If James is believed to be in a position to compete with the best NXT females, the wrestler did not showcase it in this interview. In spite of that, she pins the former women’s tag team champion as well as an opponent for taking on the NXT Women’s Championship.
Hartwell was supposed to have found confidence through the assistance of Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez which would have made Hartwell one of the top players in the division. However, she’s lost matches she’s supposed to beat, no matter how much she must cheat.
Result: James def.Hartwell via pinfall
Diamond Mine vs Joe Gacy and The Dyad
Brutus Creed was secluded from The Dyad as Roderick Strong barked at him to bring him to the corner with the friendly people.
In the end, Julius Creed got the hot tag to win. Strong got the blind tag. He then had a heated argument in the Creed Brothers, leading to The Dyad striking him with an elevated DDT, winning.
The discord within Diamond Mine continues to cost the team matches. This was a major one because The Dyad unexpectedly entered into the NXT Tag Team Championships scene after this victory. The teams did their best to maximize their time during this match.
If Strong perseveres in finding a right way Gacy may even gain a significant win for his team. Although The Creed Brothers could be champions for some time but it makes no reason for Gacy to continue failing at every chance.
Result: The Dyad and Gacy def.Diamond Mine by pinfall
Xyon Quinn vs Sanga
Xyon Quinn assaulted Sanga from behind during his entrance and the two duels continued into the Ring. Quinn evidently ate much more than what he was able to chew but he did manage to land an enormous choke to end the deal.
This was a bizarre squash. It appears that Quinn is losing some respect in NXT 2.0 due to his repeated defeats. Quinn’s giant opponent has the physique and size to be a success in WWE However, it’s not as important over a guy who was just a few months away of title contention just a just a few months ago.
Sanga has shown improvement in the ring, despite recent performancesand will be more successful in Main rosters than NXT in the future. However, if WWE will commit to Sanga, he’d be an intriguing challenge to Bron Breakker.
Result: Sanga def. Quinn by pinfall
Mandy Rose vs Nikkita Lyons
After Nikkita Lyons regained her composure after an Mandy Rose missile dropkick, Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne rushed into the Ring. Jacy Jayne and Gigi Dolin were the NXT Tag team women champions fought Lyons in order to disqualify her.
Rose did a lot of lifting to create Lyons appear good. But it was just a bit too for the team to handle. The match itself was excellent however Lyons did not contribute enough to the match. Her selling was not consistent. She ran out of strategies within her arsenal five minutes into.
The shaky finish took away from a good TV match however it didn’t show enough to create Lyons appear anything other than a skilled rookie the experience of a veteran. All that’s to say that the likely match that will follow this isn’t looking very likely to be a success.
Result: Lyons def. Rose by disqualification
Cameron Grimes Takes a Cheap Shot at Bron Breakker Before Great American Bash
Wade Barrett hosted a face-off between Bron Breakker and Cameron Grimes just one week prior to their bout at NXT Great American Bash. The two feuding until Grimes struck Breakker, the NXT champion and drove him into the turnbuckle. He also broke the top rope using Breakker’s shoulder.
Breakker Vs. Grimes is a match that didn’t require much excitement to get it to work. The most rich man in NXT is a veteran who can make any story successful. He makes it clear through his words, and then backs it up with action.
His part of the show was flawless, setting his image as a decent person with a valid issue with the champ that has brought him to the breaking point. He might be his role as the heel however, he can just as quickly turn the crowd onto his side.
It’s possible that something could happen in the next few weeks. There is a good chance that Breakker will prevail, however Grimes has promoted this match as one that you can’t miss.
