“Raw” was a memorable show because of many reasons, including a changing leadership team, but also the 20th-anniversary celebration of Rey Mysterio’s WWE debut. The big focus was given to Rey in his “thank you” promo as he was beaten down by Judgment Day. The tag team match went well for Mysterio and Dominik, who came out on top with a clean win before going backstage to celebrate with family and friends. These wrestlers, such as Ultimo Dragon and Los Maximos, were also present at the event. Rey’s wife Angie and his daughter Aaliyah were also in attendance.
The celebration continued, with a returning Ripley stepping into the picture to portray Mysterio. Just as the tension rises, Aalyah steps in to challenge Ripley despite being part of Judgement Day’s plan: Rey was hit with a powerbomb and through a table.
Back in 2020, Matthews (then known as Buddy Murphy) was a corrupted disciple of Seth Rollins, and the two were thick in a feud with the Mysteries. Part of the storyline briefly included Aaliyah, who started forming an on-air relationship with Matthews, but this angle was eventually dropped. Matthews is currently in an actual relationship with Ripley, and considering the ties to the late Eddie Guerrero, he decided to make his own “match” out of their confrontation on social media. She responded with an appropriate GIF.
