Despite rumors to the contrary, Seth Rollins and WWE don’t seem to be on good terms. There are “no issues” between WWE and one of its top talents, according to Fightful Select (h/t Felix Upton of Ringside News), and there was even reportedly “a lot of positive reception” from those within WWE praising Rollins’ excellent match against The Miz on Monday night’s episode of Raw.
Although Rollins recently defeated social media tycoon Logan Paul at WrestleMania 39, he hasn’t really had a clear path after the biggest event of the year.
Rollins just briefly entered the ring at the Raw following WrestleMania to direct the crowd as it sung along to his theme song.
Later, footage surfaced showing Rollins appearing to be told during a commercial break that his section had been deleted or changed abruptly. At the time, he was holding a microphone, suggesting that he was initially meant to cut a promo.
This sparked speculation about a potential rift between Rollins and WWE, although early signs point to no such issue.
Rollins has long been one of the most well-liked Superstars in the WWE, and he continues to be one of the most popular babyfaces in the organization because of how strongly fans support him and how they constantly respond favorably when his music starts.
Rollins recently engaged in a United States title feud with Austin Theory, so there is no obvious trajectory for him going into SummerSlam, when Roman Reigns will face Cody Rhodes for the undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
But given that the WWE draft is this month, it’s possible that the organization will wait to make roster changes and assign Rollins to more interesting opponents.
McMahon did not appear backstage at Raw in Little Rock, Arkansas, according to Fightful Select (h/t Upton).
Since Monday’s Raw featured a lot of high-caliber in-ring action, such as Rollins vs. Miz, Judgment Day vs. Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens and Matt Riddle, Solo Sikoa vs. Rey Mysterio, and Bianca Belair vs. Dakota Kai, there was a lot of speculation that WWE head of creative Triple H was largely responsible.
Since McMahon’s brief retirement last summer, Triple H has served as WWE’s chief creative officer. However, there was some speculation that McMahon might take a more active role in creative choices when he returned to the company in January as chairman of the board.
A few weeks ago, Endeavor Group Holdings acquired 51% of WWE and combined it with UFC, elevating McMahon to the position of executive chairman of the entire enterprise.
The fact that McMahon was present for the Raw following WrestleMania and was “firmly in charge” of the show, calling the shots and making numerous script changes, may not have been a coincidence, according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com.
McMahon has not visited backstage for any subsequent episodes of Raw or SmackDown, according to every story since that time, which suggests that his appearance at the Raw after WrestleMania may have been a one-time event given he was already in the Los Angeles region for WrestleMania.
Fans have generally praised Triple H’s booking in comparison to what McMahon was giving him, and it appears that Triple H has been allowed more flexibility to book things in accordance with his vision during the previous several weeks than he was at the post-WrestleMania Raw.
WWE is said to have reached a deal with Twitch that will permit its Superstars to resume streaming after previously ordering their talent to stop doing so.
The agreement, according to Fightful Select (h/t Upton), will include a three-way revenue split, with Twitch and the talent earning the “vast majority” of it.
Additionally, the talent is said to be “almost” unrestricted, with the exception of needing permission if they want to broadcast alongside actors from other businesses.
The talent Fightful spoke with regarding the new Twitch collaboration are “very happy” about the change, the publication reported.
Though it is unknown if the recent shift in WWE ownership had anything to do with the Twitch arrangement, Endeavor Group Holdings just acquired 51% of the business.
Xavier Woods and Zelina Vega were among the WWE Superstars that frequently streamed on Twitch before the platform’s shutdown.
Now that a settlement has been made, WWE Superstars can go back to Twitch and generate additional income aside from what they receive from their WWE contracts.
