Throughout the past week, WWE star Liv Morgan has suffered bad news after bad news. Two weeks ago, when she was defending her WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships alongside Raquel Rodriguez, she injured her shoulder. Morgan’s injury may require surgery, according to Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Radio.
In this week’s edition of the WrestlingObserver Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reports that Morgan’s injury was “worse than originally expected” and that she’ll be out “long enough that [WWE] decided to move on and give Rodriguez a new partner.” Morgan and Rodriguez were unable to defend their titles the Monday after the incident because of Morgan’s injury.
When the severity of Morgan’s injuries became apparent, the duo vacated the tag team championships after winning in mid-April against Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus. Further indicating Morgan might be gone for an extended period of time, Rodriguez was paired up with Shotzi as a new tag team partner.
Morgan had planned to appear in a movie about Mildred Burke before her injury, so it is unclear how her injury will affect her career outside WWE. Morgan, aka Gionna Daddio, gained more roles in horror shows and films such as “Chucky” and “The Kill Room” in the following year.
