Xia Li WWE Career
In Shanghai, China, Li impressed talent scouts at a tryout in January 17. On July 13, the made her debut for WWE. China was the first time that a woman from the country has ever competed on WWE‘s stage. Li was eliminated in the first round of the inaugural Mae Young Classic by Mercedes Martinez but she returned and participated in it again in September 2018, where she lost to Deonna Purrazzo. She only wrestled at NXT live events outside of the tournament up until 2017 before returning.

On January 27, 2022, at the Royal Rumble. Li made her first appearance on a main roster pay-per operation by entering the women’s Royal Rumble match at number ten.
She made her television debut on February 19 episode of NXT, losing in a singles match to Mia Yim. On May 1 episode of NXT, she picked up her first televised win by defeating Rachel Evers. In late November, she got into a feud with Aliyah and Vanessa Borne.
On the November 13th and 27th episodes of NXT, they beat the duo on a single, respectively. In the last of these, she was attacked by NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler herself. Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke afterwards.
On the March 25 episode of NXT, Li was set to face Aliyah in a qualifier for a Ladder match to determine the number one contender for the NXT Women’s Championship.
But she was injured and couldn’t compete. Li went on to defeat both Catanzaro and Carter in singles bouts on the February 24th and March 10 episodes of NXT, respectively, and beat them again in a handicap match three weeks later.
