MONROE COUNTY, Fla. — Brush Fire in Miami-Dade County Shuts Down Access to Florida Keys
A brush fire that broke out in Miami-Dade County on Tuesday afternoon has prompted authorities to close all vehicle entry and exit routes to the Florida Keys, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).
The blaze has halted traffic along U.S. 1’s 18-Mile Stretch and Card Sound Road in upper Key Largo, effectively isolating the region.
The Florida Highway Patrol is supporting the MCSO in managing the closures. Traffic camera images reveal extensive congestion, with vehicles lined up in bumper-to-bumper conditions.
The sheriff’s office has stated it will provide ongoing updates as the situation develops, continuing until the fire is contained and normal traffic flow resumes.
