A controversial posterboard at a high school art exhibition, featuring LeBron James with monkeys, has caused anger due to its racial insensitivity. The offensive artwork, which resembles a parody of the “Monkey Premium” cereal advertising campaign, has sparked criticism from the local community and beyond. This has led to a swift investigation into its source and exhibition.
The event took place at the New Hartford Central School District in New York during the New Hartford Festival of the Arts, where a racist posterboard was prominently shown in the school gymnasium. The artwork, which included a headline stating, “Eat Monkeys, Jump Like Monkeys!” and a picture of LeBron James in his Lakers outfit, shocked and surprised attendees with its clear racial implications.
The Superintendent of Schools, Cosimo Tangorra Jr., immediately took action in response to the controversy, informing worried parents that an investigation was being conducted to find out how the offensive artwork was permitted to be displayed. Tangorra Jr. conveyed profound disappointment about the incident, stressing the importance of a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances of its origin and presentation.
