Drew McIntyre is set to challenge Damian Priest for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Clash at the Castle in Glasgow, Scotland, on June 15. This match presents McIntyre with the opportunity to avenge not just one, but two significant losses. First, he aims to make up for his previous UK pay-per-view defeat against Roman Reigns, which was marred by interference from Solo Sikoa. Additionally, McIntyre seeks retribution for his WrestleMania 40 loss to Priest, who capitalized on an attack from CM Punk to cash in his Money in the Bank contract and win the title.
In a recent interview with “Cultaholic,” McIntyre issued a stern warning to CM Punk, advising him against interfering in his match at Clash at the Castle. “I think it would be a mistake for a number of reasons after what happened last time at Clash, I really do not want something like that to happen again to the UK,” McIntyre said. “This is Glasgow … This is Scotland, this is different. I would strongly suggest not getting involved or doing anything to rock that boat during the show as there’s a genuine chance you’ll get jumped. I’m not even joking. And there’s a genuine chance the security guard won’t stop them because they’re Scottish as well.”
McIntyre emphasized the seriousness of his warning, noting that even WWE security might side with the local fans if Punk tries to interfere. “I’m telling you, there’s a good chance you’ll get jumped and security will help jump you if you get involved in my match,” he added.
Interestingly, McIntyre didn’t mention his own role in the altercation with Punk at WrestleMania 40. After dethroning Seth Rollins to win the World Heavyweight Title, McIntyre taunted Punk by parading the title in his face. Punk retaliated by attacking McIntyre, first dropping him from the announcer’s table and then striking him with his arm-brace. This distraction allowed Priest to seize the opportunity and cash in his Money in the Bank contract, securing the championship.
With tensions running high and McIntyre eager to defend his home turf, the upcoming match at Clash at the Castle promises to be a dramatic showdown. Fans will be watching closely to see if CM Punk heeds McIntyre’s warning or if he becomes a central figure in the night’s drama once again.
