Fu Bao, born in July 2020, had been under the care of zookeeper Kang Cheol-won at the Everland Resort in Yongin, South Korea. Kang had been by Fu Bao’s side since her earliest days, guiding her growth and fostering a deep bond between them.
Fu Bao’s departure from South Korea to China marked the end of an era, evoking emotions from the thousands of fans who had grown to love her during her time at the theme park. As the convoy prepared to transport Fu Bao to her new home at the China Conservation and Research Centre for the Giant Panda in Sichuan Province, Kang and a panda expert from China accompanied her on the journey.
