The legendary Peter Frampton has yet to hang up his guitar, and even a diagnosis of Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM) hasn’t changed that. In a candid interview, Frampton talks about why she refuses to give up her passion, even when it comes to dealing with a difficult disease that many people don’t.
The Not So Farewell Tour: A Shocking Event
In 2019, Frampton made headlines for announcing a farewell tour and plans to retire from the stage after revealing his IBM diagnosis. However, as it turns out, travel times are often delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But Frampton stuck to his passion and didn’t let this setback deter him.
A new journey, a new perspective
Last year, to the surprise of fans around the world, Frampton embarked on a new tour with the Never EVER Say Never tour. Despite his poor health, he completed the spring tour, showing his deep commitment to keeping the music alive.

In a chat with the San Diego Union-Tribune, Frampton talked about the big impact IBM had on his musical journey. “Every note that I play now means more to me because I know that one of the notes that I play is the last note that I play in my life,” he said.

Despite IBM’s physical limitations, Frampton is still able to play. “I’m a fighter, I’m not going to give up,” he said. Due to the weakness of his fingers, Frampton had to work on new techniques to get the sound he wanted and was inspired by fellow musicians who had overcome different challenges.

For Frampton, it was a victory and a testament to his indomitable spirit. “For something I thought I couldn’t play, I found out what I could do at the time, which was different and I liked it,” he explained. Despite being disappointed at times that he didn’t get the results he was hoping for, Frampton was happy to be back on stage, surprised by the audience’s support and the unexpected turn of events in his career.
