On Saturday, Couric’s daughter Ellie joyously welcomed her first child with husband Mark Dobrosky. Couric took to Instagram to share the joyous news, posting photos of the new parents cradling their baby boy.
In a touching caption, Couric revealed that her newborn grandson was named John Albert Dobrosky, with the nickname “Jay” chosen in honor of Couric’s first husband, Jay Monahan. Monahan, who tragically passed away from colon cancer in 1998 at the age of 42, shared a loving partnership with Couric and together they welcomed two daughters, Carrie and Ellie.
“John Albert Dobrosky was born on his due date, Saturday, March 23rd at 8:23 am, just shy of seven pounds. He will be called Jay in honor of his maternal grandfather,” Couric expressed, paying homage to Monahan’s memory. Additionally, the name “Albert” pays tribute to Mark’s paternal grandfather.
