Former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal has addressed recent comments from fans regarding his time in WWE, setting the record straight on his tenure and dismissing claims that the company “dropped the ball” with him.
The “Don’t Hinder Jinder” movement, which began as an ironic show of support prior to his 2017 title win, gained traction every time Mahal was placed in a prominent position. Despite his reign as WWE Champion and high-profile moments, such as his January 1st interaction with The Rock and being offered a World Title match against AEW President Tony Khan’s objections, many fans felt that WWE did not fully capitalize on Mahal’s popularity.
However, Mahal himself has a different perspective. In a TikTok video, he responded to the frequent fan comment that WWE failed to utilize him effectively. Mahal listed his accomplishments and expressed his gratitude for his time in the company:
“So I see this comment a lot and I wanna kinda share my opinion on it. ‘WWE dropped the ball on me’ – I would say that’s not true.
“Had a very long career, 12 years in WWE. WWE Champion, won the United States Championship at WrestleMania, made a great living, really set myself up for the future, for the rest of my life. Given me a sense of financial independence where now I can just do whatever I wanna do. Freedom, flexibility, got to travel the world, build amazing relationships, a lot of good memories. And it’s gonna continue now on the independents, just doing things my way.
“So WWE did not drop the ball, I had a great career, a great time, and, yeah, thank you for all the fans tuning in for all these years.”
Jinder Mahal Addresses Another WWE Rumor
During his reign as WWE Champion, Mahal was poised to face Brock Lesnar in a Champion vs. Champion match at Survivor Series as part of the annual brand warfare storyline. However, Mahal lost the title to AJ Styles on SmackDown shortly before the event, leading to rumors that Lesnar refused to work with him.
In a recent interview, Mahal set the record straight regarding any alleged heat with Lesnar. He explained that the decision to drop the title to Styles was purely a creative choice by WWE and had nothing to do with Lesnar’s preferences. Mahal emphasized that he has always had a professional relationship with Lesnar and holds no ill will toward the company for the decision.
Mahal’s comments reflect a positive outlook on his career and future in professional wrestling. As he continues to perform on the independent circuit, fans can expect to see more of “The Maharaja” doing things his way, free from the constraints of WWE.
