In the town of Simsbury, Connecticut, a marriage crisis took its toll. According to Simsbury police, around 11:30 p.m., the calm on Wildwood Road was disturbed by a panicked 911 call that called officers to the scene of a horrific accident.
Accidents happen
When they arrived, the officers were disappointed. Qiu Rongfang, a 49-year-old hospital worker, was found by the authorities with signs of “severe disease” on her body. Despite efforts to revive her, Rongfang succumbed to her injuries after being taken to a nearby hospital. The cause and nature of the disease have not been determined by the medical examiner.
The suspect was arrested
Her husband Ding Sheng Lin, 50, was immediately arrested at the scene and is now facing murder charges. Lt. Brad Chase of the Simsbury Police Department confirmed that news of Lin’s arrest shocked the community.

Neighbors were shocked
Longtime Simsbury resident Janet Gregorian-Michaelsen expressed her disbelief at the tragedy. Remembering the secretive nature of the Lin family, she said, “I couldn’t believe it. It was really surprising.” Despite living close for a few years, the family remained hidden from society and entered into the fabric of the city until this terrible problem appeared destroying the illusion of normality.
Social Response
The tragedy plunged the peaceful community into a sudden wave of fear and suspicion. Gregorian Michaelsen commented on the inclusion of law enforcement, saying, “There’s a reason why they say The Sims is annoying, but I don’t think that’s the case anymore.” Simsbury’s peaceful life has been shattered by a serious case of domestic violence, a phenomenon that occurs behind closed doors, unknown to neighbors.
Request Support
After the incident, authorities urged residents to seek help if they or someone they know is experiencing domestic violence. Lt. Chase resources are available, and encourage individuals to seek support from local law enforcement and organizations such as 2-1-1 and Interval House.
Ongoing research
As the community grapples with the impact, several agencies, including the Hartford State’s Attorney’s Office, the Connecticut State Police, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, are investigating the matter of Rongfang’s sudden death.
Simsbury’s outwardly peaceful appearance is tainted by a sinister legend of a deadly family feud. As the authorities continue to investigate, the community is united in darkness and chaos to such an extent that accidents occur even in the most peaceful environments.
