Triple H, WWE’s Chief Content Officer, expressed his gratitude to the fans in France following a successful WWE Backlash event in Lyon. During the post-show press conference, he discussed the impact of international events and hinted at future WWE Premium Live Events (PLEs) in various countries.
An International Approach to WWE PLEs
WWE has increasingly focused on hosting events outside the United States, with Triple H emphasizing the importance of engaging with global audiences. This year alone, WWE has scheduled major international PLEs, including Bash in Berlin in Germany, King and Queen of the Ring in Saudi Arabia, and Money in the Bank in Canada. These events represent WWE’s commitment to expanding its reach and providing unique experiences for fans worldwide.
Triple H mentioned that France’s enthusiastic reception during Backlash played a significant role in shaping WWE’s future plans. He also highlighted other countries that could be candidates for hosting future events, with Italy being one of them. “I think you see the commitment now to international markets. As I said, I would expect this not to be the last time in France,” he said. “From what I heard on this tour the last few days, Italy was quite crazy. So when I get home, I will be looking heavily into Italy.”
Triple H encouraged fans from various international markets to show their passion for WWE to increase their chances of hosting future events. “People hit me on social media from various international markets asking, ‘How do we get WWE here?’ You get it by doing what France did here. You get it by being loud. You get those events by being intense, by being crazy, and being passionate about WWE,” he explained.
Gratitude to the French Fans
The reception from French fans during both WWE SmackDown and Backlash left a lasting impression on Triple H. He recalled how loud the crowd was during the events, noting that he could barely hear the people sitting beside him. “The biggest thing I want to do is thank the fans. Wow. Just what an incredible experience,” he said. “I do not know that I have ever had a moment when a show starts, where I am sitting next to somebody and we are yelling at each other and we cannot hear, not because the monitors or the speakers are too loud, we had everything off, the crowd is so loud where we run the show from that, we literally could not hear each other talking. That is quite an accomplishment.”
Triple H’s appreciation for the French fans’ energy underscores the importance of audience engagement in shaping WWE’s international strategy. With plans to continue exploring new markets, it’s clear that the WWE Universe’s enthusiasm plays a pivotal role in where the company will go next.
Looking Ahead
The next international WWE PLE will be King and Queen of the Ring in Saudi Arabia, scheduled for May 25. As WWE continues to expand its global footprint, fans in other countries can look forward to the possibility of hosting future events, provided they bring the same level of passion and energy that made Backlash in France such a memorable experience.
