WWE stalwart Natalya is confidently asserting that she’s currently delivering the finest performances of her illustrious career, despite already boasting over two decades of experience in the wrestling industry. Having embarked on her journey with WWE’s developmental system in January 2007, the Calgary native has etched her name in wrestling history, securing numerous championship reigns and earning a well-deserved spot in the Canadian Wrestling Hall of Fame.
During a recent appearance on WWE’s The Bump, the former SmackDown Women’s Champion expressed her belief that she’s currently operating at the peak of her abilities:
“I feel like right now, I’m doing the best work of my career, and that Underground match was what I was talking about. For me, it just felt like a game-changing match where it was a way for me to remind everybody of, as selfless as I am in helping others, I still want so much more, and I think that’s cool.”
Natalya’s recent showcase at NXT Spring Breakin’ on April 30th against promising talent Lola Vice in a highly praised NXT Underground Match further validated her claim. Despite facing an opponent whose roots lay in MMA, Natalya embraced the challenge and nearly secured victory if not for outside interference:
“Getting that opportunity at NXT and having that match with Lola was a dream come true because I was able to show hey, this MMA world isn’t really my world, but I’m gonna dive into it. It is more Lola’s world because that’s where she started, before she came to WWE. I not only gave her a run for her money, but I mean, if she didn’t have Shayna [Baszler] get involved, I would have beaten her.”
As Natalya’s contract with WWE approaches its end after 17 fruitful years, her future with the company remains a topic of speculation. However, recent reports suggest that WWE has extended a new offer, indicating that Natalya’s journey in the squared circle may be far from over.
