Since his departure from WWE, Matt Riddle has been carving out a path of success in the wrestling world, showcasing his talents in the independent circuit and leaving a lasting impression in New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW). Now, the Original Bro has set his sights on potential opportunities with All Elite Wrestling (AEW), expressing his desire to explore new avenues in his wrestling career.
In a recent interview with Jamal Niaz for Monopoly Events, Riddle delved into the possibility of working with AEW or TNA (Impact Wrestling) in the future. While he acknowledged having conversations with TNA, Riddle cited his jam-packed schedule and family commitments as factors to consider before making any definitive decisions.
“Yeah, I’d like to see myself in AEW or TNA,” Riddle expressed. “I talked to TNA, and everything looks good there. It’s just that my schedule’s very packed. I got four kids. If somebody offers me a date that’s gonna pay my rate, I’m gonna show up and first come, first serve. But right now, I’m kind of focusing more on MLW and New Japan. Those are the guys that showed up first at my door, wanted to help me and believe in me. So I’m kind of giving them the ball first. But TNA, AEW, there’s always a possibility.”
Despite his interest in exploring opportunities with AEW and TNA, Riddle emphasized his current focus on Major League Wrestling (MLW) and NJPW, appreciating the support he has received from these promotions early on in his post-WWE journey. Riddle’s dedication to these companies reflects his commitment to delivering top-notch performances while balancing his demanding schedule and family obligations.
Reflecting on the unpredictable nature of live TV in wrestling, Riddle expressed a desire for a break from the rigorous schedule and time constraints associated with major promotions like WWE. He described the intense pressure of performing on live television and the challenges that come with it, underscoring the need for flexibility and balance in his career.
“When you do live TV at any capacity, especially in pro wrestling, it’s a mess,” Riddle candidly admitted. “It really is, unless you are very well-organized and perfect at it. Even WWE, even AEW, nobody is, and things happen, things change. I think I just wanted a break from that, and not only a break from that, but from the travel schedule.”
Regarding the possibility of a return to WWE, Riddle expressed his desire to explore various wrestling promotions before considering a comeback. He articulated a desire to gain diverse experiences in different companies, ensuring that if he were to return to WWE, he could do so with a sense of fulfillment and accomplishment.
“I would like to possibly hit AEW, TNA. I would like to hit as many [companies] as I could,” Riddle remarked. “So if I were to go back, I can at least be like, ‘At least I did it all before I came back.’ This might be my only opportunity, or maybe the next ten years will be an opportunity because they don’t take me back. Either way…”
As speculation swirls about Riddle’s next move, fans are left to ponder the potential impact of his presence in AEW or TNA. With his impressive track record and versatile skill set, Riddle could undoubtedly make a significant impact in either promotion, bringing his unique style and charisma to new audiences around the world.
