Former WWE star Tyler Breeze recently took a deep dive into his WWE release, shedding light on his departure and the reasons behind it.
Expecting the Inevitable
In a candid conversation on “Developmentally Speaking,
” Breeze shared that his WWE release didn’t catch him off guard. He revealed that while still on a main roster deal while performing in “WWE NXT,”
he was aware that the writing was on the wall.
“At that time, I knew it was probably happening at some point. Actually, I believe, when it finally happened, I’m pretty sure like Hunter Triple H already told me that like, ‘Oh, this will probably happen,'”
Breeze recounted.
Financial Realities
The financial aspect also played a significant role in his departure. Wrestling in a developmental role while earning main roster wages was not a sustainable situation.
“When it comes down to it, and it comes down to looking at stuff like that, you can’t make that much money in that spot. It really just kind of came down to that,”
Breeze explained. Despite the inevitable nature of his release, he mentioned there were still moments of surprise when the news was official.
Surpassing Expectations
Breeze reflected on advice from his coach and former WWE star, Lance Storm, who had informed him that the average WWE tenure lasts about five years. Breeze, surpassing this mark with an impressive 11-year run, discussed the significance of this achievement during the interview.
Burnout and Relief
Discussing his state before the release, Breeze revealed he was experiencing burnout. Throughout his 11-year tenure, he rarely took time off. “At that point, I was a little bit burnt out.
I mean, I’ve been going hard … I really only took, I don’t know, maybe a couple of days off here and there,” Breeze shared. The release, however, turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
It provided him with a much-needed break to relax and enjoy life outside of the ring. “But, I just kind of liked sleeping in my own bed and waking up and making breakfast and not really being in a hurry to go anywhere,” Breeze expressed.
Future in Wrestling
Despite the release, Breeze remains optimistic about his wrestling career. At 36 years old, he believes he has many years left in the business. When asked about a potential return to WWE, he responded enthusiastically, stating he would return full-time if given the opportunity.
Breeze highlighted his positive relationship with WWE, particularly with Triple H, and expressed eagerness to step back into the ring if the call came.
