The Cleveland Browns have made a notable addition to their coaching staff by hiring former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel as a consultant, according to reports from NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero on Friday.
After parting ways with the Titans in January, Vrabel quickly found a new role in the NFL, joining the Browns as a consultant for the 2024 season. His presence was notable during the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, where he spent time with the Browns’ coaching staff.
Vrabel’s tenure in Tennessee ended after a challenging season, during which the Titans faced adversity but remained competitive. Despite making the playoffs in three consecutive seasons from 2019 to 2021, the team struggled in the 2023 season, finishing with a 6-11 record and leading to Vrabel’s departure.

Bringing a wealth of experience to Cleveland, Vrabel enjoyed a successful playing career before transitioning to coaching. He won three Super Bowls with the New England Patriots and earned recognition as a first-team All-Pro in 2007. His coaching journey began at Ohio State, his alma mater, before moving to the NFL as a linebackers coach with the Houston Texans in 2014. Vrabel later served as the Texans’ defensive coordinator before taking on the head coaching role with the Titans from 2018 to 2023.
During his time in Tennessee, Vrabel led the Titans to three playoff appearances and was named NFL Coach of the Year in 2021. With a solid coaching background and extensive playing experience, Vrabel is poised to offer valuable insights to Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski and defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz.
